During the Elite Eight, LSU Tigers remained in the locker room during the national anthem while opponents Iowa Hawkeyes stood on the court. LSU's coach Kim Mulkey stated it was part of their routine to be in the locker room 12 minutes before the game. In a similar past incident in 2022, South Carolina also stayed in the locker room for the anthem. However, during the Women's Final Four, both South Carolina and NC State teams were present on the court and stood for the national anthem.
