Senior adviser Lauren discussed RFK Jr's path forward in the 2024 race, highlighting Biden as a bigger threat to democracy than Trump due to using federal agencies to censor opponents. RFK Jr challenged Biden for the Democratic nomination before running as an independent candidate. Biden accuses Trump of threatening democracy over the Jan 6 Capitol riot.

Rory Kennedy expresses concern over her brother Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s presidential bid potentially aiding Donald Trump's re-election

Rory Kennedy, sister of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is worried that her brother's independent presidential campaign could detract votes from President Biden, possibly assisting in Donald Trump's victory. Kennedy, along with other members of the Democratic family, criticized RFK Jr.'s candidacy, labeling it as hazardous for the country. RFK Jr., known for his environmental and anti-vaccine stance, previously drew significant support from Democratic voters before switching party affiliation. Recent polls indicate Trump leading in battleground states in a hypothetical five-way race, with Biden following closely and RFK Jr. also in the mix.

Kennedys Rally Behind Biden to Counter Possible Robert F Kennedy Jr Independent Candidacy

Members of the extended Kennedy family are actively supporting President Joe Biden's re-election campaign to push back against the potential independent candidacy of Robert F Kennedy Jr, which could act as a political spoiler in favor of presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump. The Kennedys gathered at the White House to show their support, with plans to engage in various forms of campaigning, media appearances, and legal challenges to counter RFK Jr's campaign efforts. The Biden team is welcoming the Kennedys' assistance and is working to support their efforts.

Wisconsin Voters Advocate for 'Uninstructed Delegation' Option in Presidential Primary Due to Discontent with President Biden's Handling of Israel-Hamas Conflict

Wisconsin voters dissatisfied with President Biden's approach to the Israel-Hamas conflict are endorsing the 'uninstructed delegation' choice on Democratic presidential primary ballots as a way to exert pressure on the administration. Similar movements have emerged in other states like Minnesota, Michigan, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Hawaii, and Washington, where voters link their support for Biden with his stance on the Gaza conflict. Despite Biden's expected victory in Wisconsin's primary, organizers aim to secure 20,000 'uninstructed' votes, mirroring Biden's past winning margin over Trump. Polls suggest a tight race between Biden and Trump in Wisconsin.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. 2024 presidential campaign (Wikipedia)

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced his campaign for the 2024 United States presidential election on April 19, 2023. An environmental lawyer, writer, and member of the Kennedy family, he is known for advocating anti-vaccine misinformation and public health conspiracy theories. He initially ran for the Democratic Party nomination, but announced on October 9, 2023, that he would run as an independent candidate.Holding a diverse mix of traditionally liberal, conservative, and libertarian views in addition to his conspiracy theories, Kennedy has received significant support from independents and youth. His campaign has also received strong support and praise from tech industry executives in Silicon Valley. At the same time, the reaction to his campaign from his extended family has been largely negative.Although third party and independent candidates rarely perform as strongly in elections as they do in polling, a Quinnipiac University Polling Institute survey, released on November 1, 2023, indicated that Kennedy would win 22 percent of the vote if the 2024 presidential election were held then.

2024 Democratic Party presidential primaries (Wikipedia)

Presidential primaries and caucuses are being organized by the Democratic Party to select the delegates to the 2024 Democratic National Convention, to determine the party's nominee for president in the 2024 United States presidential election. The elections will take place in most U.S. states, the District of Columbia, five U.S. territories, and Democrats Abroad, and will be held between January and June that year. Incumbent President Joe Biden is running for re-election with Vice President Kamala Harris as his running mate. Biden maintains a significant lead in polls, and no incumbent president has lost nomination since 1884.While Biden had repeatedly expressed his intent to run for re-election since 2021, there was speculation in the first two years of his presidency that he might not seek re-election due to his age and low approval ratings. Former Democratic House representatives including Carolyn Maloney, Joe Cunningham and Tim Ryan had publicly said Biden should not run. There had been speculation that Biden may face a primary challenge, especially from a member of the Democratic Party's progressive faction.Eventually, three primary opponents emerged; self-help author Marianne Williamson declared her candidacy in March 2023, followed by anti-vaccine activist, environmental attorney, and conspiracy theory promoter Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in April and Representative Dean Phillips in October. Kennedy withdrew from the Democratic primaries in October 2023 to run as an independent candidate. Williamson suspended her campaign following the Nevada primary in February 2024, before unsuspending her campaign following the Michigan primary later that month. Many young voters, Arab and Muslim Americans voted uncommitted in the state of Michigan to protest Biden's handling of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the Israel–Hamas war. After Democrats outperformed expectations in the 2022 midterm elections, many believed the chances that Biden would run for and win his party's nomination had increased. On April 25, 2023, Biden announced via a video that he would be running for re-election.

2024 United States presidential election (Wikipedia)

The 2024 United States presidential election will be the 60th quadrennial presidential election, scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Voters will elect a president and vice president for a term of four years. Incumbent President Joe Biden, a member of the Democratic Party, is running for re-election. His predecessor Donald Trump, a member of the Republican Party, is running for re-election to a second, nonconsecutive term. If both Biden and Trump are nominated by their respective parties, it would mark the first presidential rematch since 1956. A number of primary election challengers have also declared their candidacies for the nomination of both major parties. The winner of this election is scheduled to be inaugurated on January 20, 2025. It will occur at the same time as elections to the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House; several states will also be holding gubernatorial and state legislative elections.Prior to the general election, political parties will choose their nominees at nominating conventions. In October 2023, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced his run as an independent presidential candidate. By the next month, Kennedy's polling was at the highest levels for a candidate outside the two major parties since Ross Perot in 1992.The Colorado Supreme Court, a state Circuit Court in Illinois, and the Secretary of State of Maine have ruled that Trump is ineligible to hold office, and as such disqualified from appearing on the ballot, due to his role in the January 6 Capitol attack. However, the rulings are stayed pending appeal.Abortion access, healthcare, education, the economy, foreign policy, border security, LGBT rights, climate change, and democracy are expected to be leading campaign issues.

Many of his often disproved public health claims have targeted prominent figures such as Anthony Fauci, Bill Gates, and Joe Biden. He has written books including The Real Anthony Fauci (2021) and A Letter to Liberals (2022).

Democratic strategist Carville blames 'preachy females' for party's poll problems with young minority voters

Democratic strategist James Carville expressed concern over the Democratic Party losing support among young minority voters and pointed to a drop in numbers among younger Blacks, Latinos, and people of color, particularly males. Polls indicated declining support for Democrats among Black and Hispanic voters, with President Biden losing significant backing from these demographics. Carville emphasized the need for Democrats to convey the long-term impacts of re-electing Trump to young Black and Hispanic Americans. He also criticized 'preachy females' for affecting Biden's polling numbers.

Aaron Rodgers Expected to Play for New York Jets Despite Presidential Campaign Speculations

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is expected to participate in the team's spring practices, despite speculations linking him to potentially being the running mate for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in the upcoming presidential election. Rodgers, still recovering from an Achilles injury, is motivated for his return in the 2024 season. Both Rodgers and RFK Jr. share vaccine skepticism and have appeared on anti-establishment podcasts. The Jets anticipate Rodgers' full involvement in preparations for the upcoming NFL season, dismissing the political rumors.

Former Rep. Ken Buck Criticizes Rep. Lauren Boebert in Audio Clip

Former Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) compared Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) to disgraced former congressman George Santos in an audio clip aired on The Dan Caplis Show. Buck highlighted controversies surrounding Boebert's ex-husband, son, and a theater incident where she allegedly groped a man and insulted police officers. Boebert, in response, called Buck irrelevant and an embarrassment to Colorado. The tension between the two arose from Buck's early retirement triggering a special election in Colorado's 4th district, prompting Boebert to move and run for the seat.

Opposition to Biden's Support for Israel's War Faces Test in Wisconsin Democratic Primary

Grassroots groups in Wisconsin are urging voters to mark themselves uncommitted in the state's Democratic primary as a test of opposition to President Biden's strong support for Israel's war against Hamas. These efforts, supported by similar campaigns in Hawaii, Michigan, and Minnesota, aim to sway 20,682 voters to vote "uninstructed", a number Biden won by in the state in 2020. The outcome of these uncommitted voters could impact Biden's chances in the upcoming election, as he and Trump are currently tied in national polls.

Republican lawmakers show little pushback on Trump's promises of mass deportations and pardons for Capitol attack convicts

As former President Donald Trump campaigns on the promises of mass deportations and pardons for those convicted in the Jan 6 Capitol attack, a new era of Republicans in Congress is offering little resistance to his ideas, marking a shift from previous encounters when Trump faced skepticism and condemnation.

January 6 United States Capitol attack (Wikipedia)

On January 6, 2021, the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., was attacked by a mob of supporters of then-U.S. president Donald Trump, two months after his defeat in the 2020 presidential election. They sought to keep Trump in power by occupying the Capitol and preventing a joint session of Congress counting the Electoral College votes to formalize the victory of President-elect Joe Biden. The attack was ultimately unsuccessful in preventing the certification of the election results. According to the House select committee investigating the incident, the attack was the culmination of a seven-part plan by Trump to overturn the election.Within 36 hours, five people died: one was shot by Capitol Police, another died of a drug overdose, and three died of natural causes, including a police officer. Many people were injured, including 174 police officers. Four officers who responded to the attack died by suicide within seven months. As of July 7, 2022, damages caused by attackers exceed $2.7 million.Encouraged by Trump, on January 5 and 6 thousands of his supporters gathered in Washington, D.C., to support his false claims that the 2020 election had been "stolen by emboldened radical-left Democrats" and to demand that then-Vice President Mike Pence and Congress reject Biden's victory. Starting at noon on January 6, at a "Save America" rally on the Ellipse, Trump gave a speech in which he repeated false claims of election irregularities and said, "If you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore." As Congress began the electoral vote count, thousands of attendees, some armed, walked to the Capitol, with hundreds breaching police perimeters. Among the rioters were leaders of the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers militia groups, who conspired to use violence and interfere with the peaceful transfer of power.More than 2,000 rioters entered the building, with many vandalizing and looting, including the offices of then-House speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Congress members. Rioters also assaulted Capitol Police officers and reporters, and attempted to capture and harm lawmakers. A gallows was erected west of the Capitol, with rioters chanting to "Hang Mike Pence" after he rejected requests, from Trump and others, to use his authority to overturn the election results. With building security breached, Capitol Police evacuated and locked down both chambers of Congress and several buildings in the Complex. Rioters occupied the empty Senate chamber while federal law enforcement officers defended the evacuated House floor. Pipe bombs were found at both the Democratic National Committee and Republican National Committee headquarters, and Molotov cocktails were discovered in a vehicle near the Capitol.Trump resisted sending the National Guard to quell the mob. Later that afternoon, in a Twitter video, he reasserted the inaccurate claim that the election was "fraudulent", and told his supporters to "go home in peace". The Capitol was cleared of rioters by mid-evening, and the electoral vote count was resumed and completed by the early morning of January 7. Pence declared President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris victorious. Pressured by his cabinet, the threat of removal, and many resignations, Trump later conceded to an orderly transition of power in a televised statement.A week after the attack, the House of Representatives impeached Trump for incitement of insurrection, making him the only U.S. president to be impeached twice. In February, after Trump had left office, the Senate voted 57–43 in favor of conviction, but fell short of the required two-thirds, resulting in his acquittal. Senate Republicans blocked a bill to create a bipartisan independent commission to investigate the attack, so the House instead approved a select investigation committee consisting of seven Democrats and two Republicans. They held nine televised public hearings on the attack in 2022, voted to subpoena Trump, and recommended that the Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecute Trump. On August 1, 2023, following a special counsel investigation, Trump was indicted on four charges.More than 1,200 people have been charged with federal crimes relating to the attack. As of December 2023, 728 defendants had pleaded guilty, while another 166 defendants were convicted at trial; a total of 745 defendants have been sentenced. Many participants in the attack were linked to far-right extremist groups or conspiratorial movements, including the Oath Keepers, Proud Boys, and Three Percenters. Numerous plotters were convicted of seditious conspiracy, including Oath Keepers and Proud Boys members; the longest sentence to date was given to then-Proud Boy chairman Enrique Tarrio, who was sentenced to 22 years in prison.

Presidency of Joe Biden (Wikipedia)

Joe Biden's tenure as the 46th president of the United States began with his inauguration on January 20, 2021. Biden, a Democrat from Delaware who previously served as vice president for two terms under President Barack Obama, took office following his victory in the 2020 presidential election over Republican incumbent president Donald Trump. Upon his inauguration, he became the oldest president in American history, breaking the record set by his predecessor Trump. Biden entered office amid the COVID-19 pandemic, an economic crisis, and increased political polarization. On the first day of his presidency, Biden made an effort to revert President Trump's energy policy by restoring U.S. participation in the Paris Agreement and revoking the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline. He also halted funding for Trump's border wall, an expansion of the Mexican border wall. On his second day, he issued a series of executive orders to reduce the impact of COVID-19, including invoking the Defense Production Act of 1950, and set an early goal of achieving one hundred million COVID-19 vaccinations in the United States in his first 100 days.Biden signed into law the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021; a $1.9 trillion stimulus bill that temporarily established expanded unemployment insurance and sent $1,400 stimulus checks to most Americans in response to continued economic pressure from COVID-19. He signed the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act; a ten-year plan brokered by Biden alongside Democrats and Republicans in Congress, to invest in American roads, bridges, public transit, ports and broadband access. Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act, making Juneteenth a federal holiday in the United States. He appointed Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court—the first Black woman to serve on the court. After The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Biden took executive actions, such as the signing of Executive Order 14076, to preserve and protect women's health rights nationwide, against abortion bans in Republican led states. Biden proposed a significant expansion of the U.S. social safety net through the Build Back Better Act, but those efforts, along with voting rights legislation, failed in Congress. However, in August 2022, Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, a domestic appropriations bill that included some of the provisions of the Build Back Better Act after the entire bill failed to pass. It included significant federal investment in climate and domestic clean energy production, tax credits for solar panels, electric cars and other home energy programs as well as a three-year extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies. Biden signed the CHIPS and Science Act, bolstering the semiconductor and manufacturing industry, the Honoring our PACT Act, expanding health care for US veterans, and the Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act. In late 2022, Biden signed the Respect for Marriage Act, which repealed the Defense of Marriage Act and codified same-sex and interracial marriage in the United States. In response to the debt-ceiling crisis of 2023, Biden negotiated and signed the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023, which restrains federal spending for fiscal years 2024 and 2025, implements minor changes to SNAP and TANF, includes energy permitting reform, claws back some IRS funding and unspent money for COVID-19, and suspends the debt ceiling to January 1, 2025. Biden established the American Climate Corps and created the first ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. On September 26, 2023, Joe Biden visited a United Auto Workers picket line during the 2023 United Auto Workers strike, making him the first US president to visit one.The foreign policy goal of the Biden administration is to restore the US to a "position of trusted leadership" among global democracies in order to address the challenges posed by Russia and China. In foreign policy, Biden completed the withdrawal of U.S. military forces from Afghanistan, declaring an end to nation-building efforts and shifting U.S. foreign policy toward strategic competition with China and, to a lesser extent, Russia. However, during the withdrawal, the Afghan government collapsed and the Taliban seized control, leading to Biden receiving bipartisan criticism. He responded to the Russian invasion of Ukraine by imposing sanctions on Russia as well as providing Ukraine with over $100 billion in combined military, economic, and humanitarian aid. Biden also approved a raid which led to the death of Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi, the leader of the Islamic State, and approved a drone strike which killed Ayman Al Zawahiri, leader of Al-Qaeda. Biden signed AUKUS, an international security alliance, together with Australia and the United Kingdom. Biden called for the expansion of NATO with the addition of Finland and Sweden, and rallied NATO allies in support of Ukraine. During the Israel–Hamas war, Biden condemned Hamas and other Palestinian militants as terrorism and announced American military support for Israel; Biden also showed his support and sympathy towards Palestinians affected by the war, sent humanitarian aid, and brokered a four-day temporary pause and hostage exchange.Biden began his term with over 50% approval ratings; however, these fell significantly after the withdrawal from Afghanistan and remained low as the country experienced high inflation and rising gas prices. His age and mental fitness have also been a subject of discussion.

Donald Trump to Return to Campaign Trail in Michigan and Wisconsin

Former President Donald Trump will hold campaign events in Michigan and Wisconsin, two crucial Midwest battlegrounds that he won in 2016, aimed at addressing issues such as the US-Mexico border. Despite his initial success, subsequent elections have proven challenging for Republicans in these states, with Biden narrowly winning them in 2020. Trump's campaign activities have been relatively quiet compared to President Biden's recent engagements in the region.

Former State Department official opposes Biden's claim of success in U S military withdrawal from Afghanistan

Former State Department Foreign Service Officer Sam Aronson refutes President Biden's assertion of the 2021 U S military withdrawal from Afghanistan as a success, citing the chaotic evacuation at Hamid Karzai International Airport where over 200 individuals were killed or wounded. The evacuation, involving Afghan civilians desperate to flee Taliban rule, was marred by harrowing choices, like asking an Afghan mother to decide between boarding a plane and leaving her husband behind or staying at the airport and forgoing freedom.
