A United Airlines flight bound for Japan experienced a tyre loss during take-off in San Francisco but landed safely in Los Angeles with 235 passengers and 14 crew members on board. The Boeing 777, designed to land safely with missing or damaged tyres, had one of its six tyres on the left-side main landing gear assembly come off after take-off. This incident adds to recent bad press for Boeing, which has faced issues with its planes in different locations.
