Joe Lieberman, a four-term senator and vice presidential candidate, passed away at the age of 82 due to complications from a fall. He was known as a centrist and identified with the Democrat Party while also supporting the No Labels movement. Lieberman made history as the first Jewish running mate in a major party\'s general election during the 2000 presidential race with Al Gore. Despite winning the popular vote, the Gore-Lieberman ticket lost the Electoral College to George W. Bush after a contested election in 2000. Lieberman\'s political career ended in 2006 with a loss in the Democratic primary for the US Senate in Connecticut, attributed to his stance on the Iraq war.
