Thailand\'s lower house of parliament overwhelmingly voted in favour of a same-sex marriage bill, with 400 supporting it and just 10 against it. If the bill is approved by the Senate and endorsed by the king, Thailand would be the third Asian country to legalise gay marriage. The legislation aims to reduce societal disparity and promote equality by changing marriage law terms to be gender-neutral and granting LGBTQ couples inheritance and adoption rights. Despite Thailand\'s welcoming reputation, activists have long fought conservative attitudes. Currently, only Taiwan and Nepal in Asia recognise same-sex marriage.
