Hackers linked to the Chinese government, known as APT40, targeted New Zealand\'s Parliament in a state-sponsored cyber attack in 2021. New Zealand\'s security minister confirmed the cyber attack and conveyed concerns to the Chinese Ambassador. The attack compromised sensitive government computer systems, but the National Cyber Security Centre contained the activity. New Zealand has urged China to refrain from foreign interference activities in the future. The announcement follows similar claims made by the United Kingdom against Beijing-linked groups compromising parliamentary accounts.
