The EU has initiated investigations into tech giants Alphabet (Google), Meta (Facebook), and Apple for potential violations of the Digital Markets Act, which could lead to fines of up to 10% of their annual turnover. EU antitrust boss Margrethe Vestager and industry head Thierry Breton announced the probes following recent fines imposed on Apple. In a separate development, the United States has accused Apple of monopolizing the smartphone market. Apple and Meta have expressed willingness to cooperate with the investigations.
