Ruby Franke, a popular parenting advice YouTuber, and her business partner Jodi Hildebrandt were arrested on child abuse charges in southern Utah after Franke\'s malnourished and bruised twelve-year-old son escaped and sought help from a neighbor. Franke and Hildebrandt were sentenced to up to 30 years in prison for aggravated child abuse, motivated by religious extremism. The women believed the abuse was necessary to teach the children to repent for imagined sins and cast out evil spirits.
