GOP Rep Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin is set to resign from Congress early, leaving the Republican majority with a slim margin. His resignation, effective April 19, adds to the three existing vacancies in the House. Once Gallagher and Rep Ken Buck of Colorado leave, Speaker Mike Johnson will have a razor-thin 217-to-213 majority, allowing little room for lost votes. Gallagher did not provide a reason for his early resignation but mentioned conversations with his family. He is the chairman of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, with plans for a new chair to continue the committee\'s work.
