Science

The winter of 2023-2024 in the United States was notably warm, with many regions experiencing temperatures above average, resulting in a lack of typical winter weather phenomena like snow and ice. States like Minnesota, Michigan, and Vermont reported warmer temperatures, with the Great Lakes being essentially ice-free. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration confirmed it was the warmest U.S. winter on record, with an average temperature of 37.6 degrees Fahrenheit, 5.4 degrees above the average.
