Pro-peace presidential hopeful disqualified from Russian election over signature errors

Boris Nadezhdin, a pro-peace presidential hopeful in Russia, has been disqualified from running in the March election due to errors in endorsement signatures. The Central Election Commission (CEC) found that 15% of the 105,000 signatures submitted by Nadezhdin\'s campaign contained flaws, including invalid signatures and deceased persons. Russian law requires candidates from parties without parliamentary representation to collect 100,000 valid endorsement signatures. Nadezhdin\'s campaign was only able to prove the validity of 63 signatures, far short of the required number. Nadezhdin plans to appeal the decision with Russia\'s Supreme Court.
