US Military Launches Air Assault on Iranian-backed Militias in Iraq and Syria

The US military has conducted an air assault on at least 85 targets in Iraq and Syria used by Iranian-backed militias. The airstrikes, carried out by numerous aircraft including long-range bombers flown from the US, were a response to the drone strike that killed three US troops in Jordan. The strikes targeted command and control operations, intelligence centers, rockets and missiles, unmanned aerial vehicle storages, and logistics and munition supply chain facilities. President Joe Biden stated that the response would continue at times and places of the US\'s choosing.
