Wayne LaPierre, the former CEO of the National Rifle Association (NRA), was found liable in a lawsuit for misspending millions of dollars on pricey perks during his three-decade tenure. A New York jury ruled in favor of restitution, with LaPierre ordered to pay $4,351,231. The NRA, facing financial troubles and declining membership, also had its general counsel and retired finance chief as defendants. New York Attorney General Letitia James seeks to ban them from leadership roles in charitable organizations operating in the state.
