Published: 15 February 2024 at 06:08

Science

The Odysseus lunar lander, nicknamed Odie, is scheduled to launch on a historic mission to make the first touchdown of a US-made spacecraft on the moon in five decades. Developed by Intuitive Machines under contract with NASA, Odie will embark on a scouting mission to assess the lunar environment and identify key resources such as water ice. The lander is equipped with autonomous features and will carry out experiments and technology tests during its seven-day operation on the lunar surface. The mission is part of NASA\'s plan to return astronauts to the moon later this decade through the Artemis program.
