Boeing has asked the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to exempt the newest variant of its 737 Max plane from safety inspections, despite the risk of engine malfunction. The request comes after an incident where a larger model 737 Max 9 jet was forced to make an emergency landing due to a mid-air fuselage blowout. The FAA has since grounded at least 170 of the 737 Max 9 jets to conduct immediate safety inspections.
