Donald Trump asks Supreme Court to overturn ruling deeming him ineligible to run in Colorado

Donald Trump has filed a petition with the Supreme Court requesting that they reverse a state court decision that deemed him ineligible to run in the 2024 election in Colorado. Trumps legal team argues that the state courts ruling on his eligibility based on the Constitutions insurrection clause is improper and that the Jan 6 riot at the Capitol does not qualify as an insurrection. They also assert that Congress has the power to waive the bar on insurrectionists holding office. The Colorado Republican Party has separately appealed the decision as well.
