A Japanese coastguard plane collided with a Japan Airlines passenger jet at Tokyos Haneda Airport. The JAL flight had been given permission to enter the runway moments before the collision. The coastguard plane burst into flames, killing five crewmembers and leaving the condition of the other crewmembers unknown. Captain Genki Miyamoto, the only survivor of the coastguard plane, escaped and called for help. All 379 passengers and crew on the JAL flight were successfully evacuated before the jet was engulfed in flames. The Airbus A350 jet was severely damaged in the collision.
