NASA\'s Mars helicopter Ingenuity ends mission after potential crash landing

Published: 26 January 2024 at 00:11

Science

NASA\'s Ingenuity Mars helicopter, designed for five experimental test flights over 30 days, has ended its three-year mission on the Martian planet. During its last flight, the helicopter lost contact with the commands team and when communication was regained, one of the craft\'s blades showed damage. Despite surpassing expectations with 72 flights and flying more than 14 times farther than planned, the helicopter experienced a fatal flight with a damaged blade. NASA Administrator Bill Nelson praised the achievements of Ingenuity and its paving the way for future flight and exploration in our solar system.
