Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has been released from the hospital after being hospitalized for two weeks due to complications from surgery to treat prostate cancer. Austin thanked the doctors and staff at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and expressed his eagerness to fully recover and return to the Pentagon. The White House was not informed of Austins hospitalization until three days after he was first admitted and only learned of his cancer diagnosis a month after he was first diagnosed. Austins doctors stated that he is expected to make a full recovery and has no planned further treatment for his cancer.
