Politics

Taiwanese citizens are voting in a presidential and legislative election that will determine the countrys relationship with China and address domestic issues such as the economy and housing. The election is significant as it could impact the peace and stability of Taiwan, which China claims as its own. Vice President Lai Ching-te, representing the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), is seeking to succeed outgoing President Tsai Ing-wen and give the DPP an unprecedented third term. Kuomintang candidate Hou Yu-ih is also running for president. The election outcome could shape Taiwans trajectory over the next four years.
