Conservatives are furious with Speaker Mike Johnsons spending plan and are holding up regular business on the House floor. Twelve Republicans voted against a rule that would have allowed legislation put forth by their own party to move forward. This has caused the House to be at a standstill, with Republicans unable to pass bills unless conservatives remove their blockade from rule votes. Some conservatives have even floated the idea of ousting Speaker Johnson. They are particularly angry at the deals topline spending figure, wanting it to include border security reform.
