Hamas Demands Cessation of Aggression for Release of Hostages, Israel Threatens Military Pressure

Politics

Hamas has stated that they will not release any more hostages until Israel agrees to a full cessation of aggression, while Israel believes that military pressure on Hamas is the best way to secure the release of hostages; however, only one hostage has been rescued so far. Talks for a new ceasefire are ongoing but have not yet produced an agreement. The death toll in Gaza since October 7 is estimated to be over 20,000. Israel has killed over 2,000 Hamas fighters in Gaza since the truce earlier this month.
